HS Football Football Info for 8th Grade Parents

I wanted to provide you with spring and summer football information. If this is your first child to enter HS you will find that there is a pretty big jump in the level of involvement in athletics for high school compared to middle school. Below is a heads up on some of the high school football information for the spring and summer.

TAPPS has changed a rule and 8th graders are no longer allowed to participate in contact drills until August 1. This means that they cannot suite up for spring practice. They are encouraged to attend and watch. We will also have some drills for them to do separate from the HS players. Spring practice will start on Monday, May 9. More information is available at www.CypressChristian.org/Football/Spring-Football.cfm

As middle school spring sports come to an end, 8th graders are welcome to attend off-season workouts that are currently going on from 3:45 to 4:45 Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the weight room. Our HS Mini Camp will be on Saturday, July 23. The first day of practice in the fall will be Monday, August 1.

I am still working on some of the details but I am planning to have one morning workout session four days per week this summer. We will also participate in 7 on 7 on Tuesday nights. The workouts will be Monday – Thursday from 8 to 10 AM. More details are available on the website at www.CypressChristian.org/Football/Off-Season.cfm.

Going forward you will be added to the high school email list. I certainly hope that everyone who played MS football will be playing in HS. It is a great experience and we will play 4 or 5 JV games. However, if your son is not going to participate in HS football please let me know as soon as possible. Equipment for next year is already being ordered.
