Off-Season Workouts Start Today

Off-Season Workouts
Off-season strength and conditioning workouts start today for anyone that is not currently participating in a winter sport. Coach Fields will be running the workouts with me and other football coaches being present on a regular basis. If your son is going to be on the track team (which I strongly encourage if they are not playing baseball) the workout will last about 90 minutes and start right after school. If your son is not running track they are limited (TAPPS rules) to 60 minutes and will be done at 4:30.

These workouts will focus on making your son a better athlete and are not just a sport specific workout. Seniors are welcome to attend and it would be highly recommended for those considering college football. Each athlete should wear tennis shoes and comfortable workout clothing.

Touchdown Club’s Sportsmanship Trophy
The football team has been named a finalist for the Touchdown Club’s prestigious Sportsmanship Trophy for 2010-2011. Schools are nominated by officials for this award and we are one of five schools at our level that have been nominated. The award will be given out at luncheon on Thursday January, 27 at the JW Marriott in the Galleria. I will be attending the event and you are welcome to attend as well. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased from the Touchdown Club. Click here for more information about this award and the event.

End of Season Party
We will have our annual end of season party on January 23. We will be watching the AFC/NFC Championship games, our own highlight film and eating wings. The party will start at 4:00 and be hosted by the Mitchell’s who live just a couple minutes from the school at 12502 William Dowdell, 77429. The wings and some snack food will be provided but please send your son with drinks and additional snack food.

Boys and Girls Country
We did not have an opportunity to do a service project as a team during the season but we will have an opportunity on January 29. We will be traveling to Boys and Girls Country to put on a football camp from and spend time with those kids from 1 to 3 in the afternoon. I will be sending out more information and will need an accurate head count next week.
