Warrior Football Week 10

What a great game Friday night. I was hoping we would have a game where we had to play 4 quarters of good football to win. The added test of coming behind and scoring twice in the 4th quarter to win will also help down the road. A win on Friday will lock in our second straight district championship and set the stage for us to host our third straight playoff game against Flower Mound.

It was tough to see Billy Nichols, the outstanding QB for Evadale, get hurt. He suffered a very bad concussion on a completely clean play. He was released from the hospital on Saturday afternoon and I am certainly praying that he makes a full recovery. I have great respect for how Evadale played the game and conducted themselves off the field as well.

The mouth piece is the biggest preventer of concussions and I am probably going to purchase more high-end mouthpieces for the playoffs. To date as a football program we have lost over 150 mouth pieces this season.

The theme for the week is Legacy and it is a special week were we honor our seniors at the game and also give them a chance to share with the team. I ask each senior to share his obituary with the team and it has come to be a very special moment before our last home regular season game.

Weekly Theme – Legacy

Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”

Week 9 Schedule
Monday 7:00 AM Film in field house
Monday 3:45 to 6:00 PM (Full Pads)
Tuesday 3:45 to 6:00 PM (Full Pads)
Wednesday 3:45 to 5:30 PM (Half Shell)
Thursday 3:45 to 5:15 PM (Half Shell)
Friday Game at home against Faith West at 7:30 PM (Senior Night)
Thursday Senior Dinner
I will be taking the seniors to dinner on Thursday after practice. We are planning to arrive at Saltgrass Steakhouse just after 6 and should be done by 7:30. I think we have enough seniors that drive that we can get everyone there and home without a problem. If your son cannot attended please let me know

Senior Night
Seniors will be honored before the start of the game on Friday. Coach Martin will be contacting seniors and their parents with additional information. I hope everyone can get to the game early to help send off a great group of seniors.

JV Players
Football players that primarily played on the JV and play very few plays on Friday night can participate in Soccer or Basketball activities that do not conflict with football. Most of these are done on a case by case basis so please encourage your son to talk with me if they have a question.

Thanksgiving Practices
We are a favorite to make it to the semi final round which would be played the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We would not practice on Thanksgiving Day but will practice throughout the rest of the week. I am tentatively planning to practice from 8:30 to 11:00 AM Monday through Wednesday and from 3:30 to 5:30 on Friday. The game that Saturday would most likely be played in the College Station area.
