2010 Spring Game

An inter-squad scrimmage is always an interesting thing as a head coach because it is not possible to be perfect on both sides of the ball at the same time. Traditionally the defense is usually better during the Spring Game and today was not an exception. I do believe that our own defense will be the best we see all year and I am very pleased with the progress that we are making on both sides of the ball. I believe that we have the potential to be a great football team. We have had the opportunity to have several guest coaches with us in the spring with a tremendous amount of experience (I hope we will have them in the fall as well) and they have also confirmed for me that we have a great deal of talent.

There were several things that I forgot to mention or probably did not make very clear today so please check the website. One thing was regarding the booster club and season tickets which make purchasing high quality equipment and many other aspects of our program possible. I believe in leading by example (another reason the seniors are responsible for the equipment) which is why Bethany and I join the Coach's Club but I also realize that not everyone can afford to do that so please do not feel obligated. There are many other ways that you can serve the football program other than giving money and one that I always appreciate is prayer.

The uniforms are Navy, White, and Columbia Blue like our current ones (the printout looked a little black) and every helmet will be silver. All of our helmets get reconditioned and painted every year. You can still buy an old jersey all summer long and hopefully we will find a few of the missing numbers.

It has been suggested to me that we play the spring game in the evening next year to avoid the heat. Since that suggestion came from a mom of four small children I think I will agree. While it was a little hot it was also a great day and I want to thank everyone for coming out and cheering on the Warriors.
